Download¶

TURGEN is written in Java. Depending on your operating system, you can choose a self-contained package (which includes the Java runtime) or a lightweight installer that requires an existing Java environment.

Recommended Packages¶

• Windows Full Package: turgen-x.y.z-fullpack.msi — Includes everything you need, including the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Recommended for most Windows users.
• Debian/Ubuntu Package: turgen-x.y.z_amd64.deb — Native package for Debian-based Linux distributions.

Alternative Packages (Java Required)¶

If you prefer not to use the full packages, you can use the lightweight options, but you must have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE/JDK) version 11 or newer installed first:

• Windows Installer: turgen-x.y.z-installer.exe
• Distribution Archive (Linux/Cross-platform): turgen-x.y.z-bin.tar.bz2

Installing Java (JRE or JDK)¶

If you are using the lightweight Windows Installer or Distribution Archive, we recommend free and open-source binaries from the Eclipse Adoptium Project (Temurin).

Important for Windows Users: When running the Adoptium installer, make sure to enable the “JavaSoft (Oracle) registry keys” and “Set JAVA_HOME variable” features during setup.
